What Is Acupuncture?

Acupuncture is a branch of traditional Chinese medicine which has been practiced for over 3.000 years. It works by inserting very fine needles at specific points under the skin, often referred to as acupuncture points or acupoints.

This stimulates your body’s central nervous system to release hormones which trigger a natural healing process. As well as an effective form of pain relief, acupuncture can help treat a huge variety of health issues.

What To ExpectAt Muscle & Bone Clinic we’re all about helping you achieve the healthiest you possible, so we’ve devised a treatment plan which covers every aspect of your wellbeing.Your treatment will include a full medical consultation, a nutritional analysis with a food diary, a medical blood test interpretation, herbal medicine consultation and treatment with acupuncture. Most people don’t find the procedure painful, as acupuncture needles are very thin, often reporting they feel very relaxed during and after treatment. It’s common to feel a slight pressure or numbness when the needle is inserted, but should you feel any discomfort at all, your practitioner can usually alleviate this by adjusting the needle.

How Long Does The Treatment Go On For?

Your initial consultation will last between 45 and 60 minutes. Follow up visits are usually slightly shorter, lasting between 30 and 45 minutes, depending on the condition which is being treated.

The number of treatments you’ll need depends greatly on the problem that’s being treated, how severe it is, and how long it’s been going on. People also respond differently to treatments; some will feel a significant improvement after just one or two sessions, while others might need a little more time.

Rest assured we will discuss all the details with you during your initial consultation and create a plan to suit your particular needs.
